Storm Damage - Emergency Declaration

Sunday, March 18, 2018 6:01 PM | SBBA Admin

If your property was damaged by the recent storms, you may want to take advantage of the State’s emergency declaration.  If you need to make structural repairs or repairs to the dune, please contact the Salisbury Conservation agent.  The emergency declaration allows certain repairs to be made without the typical notice of intent requirements.  You will need to send an email (conservation@salisburyma.gov) or letter to Michelle Rowden at Town Hall with the specific details of the work you intend to undertake.  If you need to have equipment on the beach, you should also contact DCR to obtain approval and include this information in your notice to the Salisbury Conservation agent.

Sand must be of a similar type and consistency as to what is found on Salisbury Beach today.  According to the Conservation Agent, Bentley Warren has the best matching sand.  Another source for sand is Torromeo in New Hampshire.

Please note that work must be completed by April 2nd.  See the attached declarations for some more specific information.

The SBBA is working with Town and State officials to advocate for an emergency sand replenishment initiative as soon as possible.  We will keep you posted on the progress of these proposed projects.
